Fans Fall for Baby Yoda Meet and Greet

The Character Meet and Greets are essential to the Disney Park experience, and guests visiting places like Walt Disney World and Disneyland can rub elbows with their favorite characters throughout the property. Disney Imagineering keeps pushing the limits for further immersion, and its latest creation might send fans over the edge with a little help from Grogu.

Star Wars: Galaxy”s Edge is where the magic of Disney crosses paths with the galaxy far, far away, and so much has gone into creating the environment of Baatu. Along with such attractions as Smugglers” Run and Rise of the Resistance are the walk-around characters calling this slice of the Outer Rim home, and they prove to be consistent crowd-pleasers.

If one character from the Star Wars universe has absolutely grabbed pop culture by the throat, it”s Grogu from The Mandalorian. Although he has been seen with his armor-clad adopted father patrolling the parks, “the Child” might not need adult supervision for much longer.

By little exaggeration, Grogu has practically become the face of the Star Wars extended universe. Since making his debut appearance in the pilot episode of The Mandalorian on Disney+, the little green critter has become Disney”s biggest cash cow since Anna and Elsa.

“Baby Yoda,” as fans know him, has been found on everything from pins and shirts to coffee mugs and a Studio Ghibli short film. However, his appearance at the Disney Parks has only been in the pouch of Din Djarin. That might be getting ready to change.

This incredibly realistic Grogu debuted at 2023″s IAAPA Expo (the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions), and the reception for the adorable animatronic is certainly positive. The way he moves, blinks, and articulates is nothing short of movie-worthy, but what does this mean for Disney fans?

The IAAPA Expo is an opportunity for those in the theme park business, like Disney, to see the latest and greatest developments in the industry. Everything from decor to ride vehicles were put on display, but this version of the beloved Star Wars character definitely stole a few hearts on the show floor.

At the time of writing, it is currently unknown whether this creature will be a new Meet and Greet experience, a new Mandalorian-themed attraction, or even something to take home. What we do know is that this little guy is bound to make waves wherever Disney chooses to put him.

If Grogu”s popularity with viewers is any indication, his introduction to Galaxy”s Edge or any other Disney Park is bound to draw a crowd. Hopefully, fans will get to meet the foundling face to face before the next season of his anticipated series.
