Hundreds of Walt Disney World Resort guests awoke and evacuated their rooms around midnight last night amid a repeated power flicker at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. Many shared their experiences online, looking for an explanation or resolution.

Disney’s Pop Century Resort is the only Value Resort hotel with multiple transportation options. Disney bus service is available to Magic Kingdom Park, Disney Springs, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park, and Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park. In 2019, the hotel officially became a Disney Skyliner Resort, offering expedited travel to EPCOT International Gateway and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It shares the only floating Disney Skyliner station with Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.

The last thing guests want after a long day at the Disney parks is a bad night’s sleep. The latest incident at Disney’s Pop Century Resort comes just months after hundreds of guests in the 1970s section of the decades-themed hotel awoke to blaring emergency alarms at 3 a.m. The fire department forced guests to evacuate their rooms. It took nearly 20 minutes for an all-clear signal.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of Disney park guests might be a little sluggish this Monday after a poorly timed power malfunction spread across Disney’s Pop Century Resort overnight. In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @FairyTaleMindy, guests roam around as all but a few emergency lights repeatedly flicker:

The outage began shortly before midnight. Other guests also shared their experiences on social media.

Walt Disney World Resort didn’t publicize an explanation for Sunday evening’s power outage at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. The electricity has returned to normal as of this article’s publication.
